Not a fantasy camp, but this would be a place where both budding and seasoned musicians could immerse themselves for several days, and emerge with renewed inspiration and tangible progress in their music.

Vanessa Kaukonen was kind enough to talk with me about what the Fur Peace Ranch is all about:

We have done promotion work for some shows at Cervantes and do a lot of work with MoBoogie.net. We relocated from Charlotte/Boone NC this time last year. I would really like to begin working with more bands, so if any of yall ever need any creative work done, let me know. I can get you a price quote fast.

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.

Hi everyone,

My name is Emmanuelle and I am a permanent resident from France who recently moved to SE Portland as a freelance graphic designer. I recently finished my last project; a 36 page catalog for a company in Eugene. The cover can be seen at http://dreamrevolution.org/Starshine/Catalog/2007-%20Page%201.jpg .I'm actually looking for new projects to make and I was wondering if any of the members of "unsigned musicians and bands" will be open to work with me. I can make CD covers, booklets, brochures, posters, flyers, banners, catalogs, business cards and logos.

Some previous projects include:
(you can also take a look at my gallery to see other finished projects)

1. My web site www.spearsofshiva.com (you can see some examples of my work) and this new page which will be soon inserted into my web site http://dreamrevolution.org/emmaworks/EmmaPage.html
2. A catalog from last year, www.eternitysky.com/catalog/ (Starshine Arts was formerly Eternity Sky)
3. Magazine cover www.lulu.com/content/158779
4. A poster and two logos for the San Francisco band Garaj Mahal; see Poster http://dreamrevolution.org/EmmaDesigns/garajmahalFall3.jpg and Logo1 http://dreamrevolution.org/EmmaDesigns/2logo.jpg and Logo2 http://dreamrevolution.org/EmmaDesigns/1logo.jpg .
5. A flyer for a restaurant Luna http://dreamrevolution.org/EmmaDesigns/posterluna.jpg
6. A CD cover for the band Teksture from Los Angeles http://dreamrevolution.org/EmmaDesigns/tekstureicone.jpg
7. The design of these web sites www.dreamboost.com, www.jamieburress.com
8. Some personal designs at http://www.dreamrevolution.org/shiva/prints.html

I use Illustrator CS2, Photoshop CS2, InDesign CS2. I also use Dreamweaver 8 for simple html and CSS web design (for instance http://dreamrevolution.org/emmaworks/EmmaPage.html ). I'm also learning QuarkXpress, Freehand, Painter and Flash and I'm familiar with the Mac OS and with PCs as well.
I have a French degree in Law and Arts (from the University of Law in Lille and from the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Dunkirk). I'm 34, married with no children. I own a cute ferret and I love gardening. I don't watch TV and I love traveling (my next trip is Tokyo, their art scene is fantastic and very inspiring). I speak French, English, and I'm also learning Japanese.

I'm a hard worker, very patient, a strong believer in communication and I love learning new things all the time. My rates are generally around $35 per hour (which is really cheap) and I'm able to work non stop up to 10 to 12 hours per day in order to finish the dealines on time.

If you need more information, send me an email at shiva@spearsofshiva.com

Have a great day :)
we are searching for a drummer that gets garage rock, has swing, and is foot heavy, but that is open to experimental sounds as well as grooving rock n roll.

We are two musicians, that create tension and flow between us by our sound and instrument choices, tube amp surfy goth rock guitar battling and making out with analog synth waveforms, bluesy organ keyboard collaborating with tweaked live played samples of self recorded obscure sources, low groans and high screaches co-exist with poisoned pop punk melodies and crooning cabaret dramatics. We need our third member, the drummer/percussionist, to hold down the beat, and explore with us. We call ourselves The Floating Corpses. We've been playing together for about 5 years, and both of us were in bands before this, one of us in rock n roll bands, the other in noise bands. We have recorded, toured, and get good gigs, have rehearsal space, etc. We work the underground scenes, not the mainstream; we are a serious band that lives for music, this isn't a hobby, but we arn't professionals per se, although we know how to be professional, we prefer to keep our punk ethics and keep having fun, but we are planning on touring the world.

You can find songs of ours on the web, but we have many sets of new songs that need to be fully brought to life with our new drummer. If you want to try out sometime, email us and tell us a bit about yourself. check out some songs on www.myspace.com/thefreakmafia
I am excited to share with you guys a professional project of mine that might involve some of you. I am helping a large fashions company find an exciting artist to do a cover or remix of a song they want to use. So there's a cash award and other goodies (including having your song on a major TV ad campaign) for the winners. Just go to our website: www.californiarefresh.com to see the details, get the song, and sign up if you are up for it! I really hope to see participation from my Tribe buddies. Please help me spread the word!
"IN YOUR FACE"
The New CD by RICH REICH

With his long awaited CD effort, affectionately titled "In your face", Rich Reich combines elements of Folk, Jazz, Country and Hard Rock to create one of the most well rounded independent releases in recent memory. Released on his own label "CSAM Records", The 35 minute CD features 9 songs all penned by RR. 4 years in the making, this recording contains some of Reich's finest work to date. The magic of this record is due largely to the sum of its parts.

Recorded in and around New York City, the outing was produced by Eric Mauriello who, as well as engineering the recording, played bass, keyboards, guitar, miscellaneous percussion, and sang on a number of tracks. Also featured on the cd are the talents of Phil Bloom (drums and percussion) , Theresa Cifali (back up vocals), Nellie Ramos (back up vocals on "Pieces"), Bruce Algera (Pedal steel guitar on "Unpatiently"), and John Campagna (flute on "Unpatiently").

Reich is currently located in Boulder, Colorado where he plans to reinvent the music industry.

i think it's a shame that there is not much activity going on. i'm trying to send some emails out and get some people to join.

cover bands never get any cred. it's always the original bands that get all the kudos. and that's fine, i've been in original bands myself and it's a very difficult task. but working all week long and then playing 34 weekends a year is difficult too. when i played in original bands, we only had to play for an hour on a given night. in cover bands, it's 4 hours PLUS pack-in time PLUS pack-out time. loads of practive, driving, emails, web stuff, it's very difficult.

so if we don't help each other, then who will.

i've been looking to find a group and/or tribe for some time that deals with these issues.

anyways, here's the tribe if you would like to join :

coverbands.tribe.net/

hope you join and we all can get some activity going!

and i hope you have a great day and keep on rocking!

On a flight of fancy
I travelled through time
Back to a place
Where you were mine
Where your lovin arms
Once held me close
And your hazel eyes once danced with mine

So this is my last goodbye
The last tear I'll ever cry
I'll never see your face again
Or hear your whisper in the wind
So I'm gonna let you go
With this last goodbye
Yea this is my last goodbye

When we met on that fateful night
Everything felt so right
But the past is gone
And so are you
Now all I've left
Are these words to you

There was a time a thought
The pain would never end
And your memory'd always haunt me
Right to the bitter end
But as I've struggled
I felt the pain disappear
So I'm leaving you with these final words
And I hope they're loud and clear

I write to the song, I don't write words and then put them to the song, I usually sit and do both, so they can seem sporadic without hearing how they weave into each other, so you should listen as well as read.

He screams and everyone looks at him strangely
Everyone thinks that he’s crazy
It’s only a matter of time until he wakes up to find that sanity was all he had
And everyone else was a madman
Creation shattered their mind
They scream, “Tell him to stop!” they scream, aching, ready to pop and they’re shaking
Becoming afraid of their kind
Voices to kindle the flame and let it burn, burn, burn
Pale skin, just like the rest, and his heart beats inside his chest
And they march on, steadily rattling, chanting, ready to battle him for peace of mind
Take a second just to look at the earth and let it turn, turn, turn
Torches blacken the sky
In a moments time they’ll be gathered ready to cleanse the heathen with flame if he won’t play their game

some dj & musician friends and I recently started a free service for independent artists and labels to sell their music. It is called Fake Science. We sell mpeg albums and EPs. We allow artists to

edit their bio information
create and manage releases
upload their own track samples
see sales with limited geographic data about where the music was sold ( without compromising the identity or safety of the customer ).
( this means you can see where you are selling, so that when you go on tour, you know where you're hot ).

We sell full length digital albums ( that is, music as mpegs )
We give 60% of the gross sales back to the artist ( or label, whoever is managing the release ).
We sell only whole albums and EPs for $5 and $2 respectively, and without DRM.

We've got some great artists up there, and more coming. If you have music recorded and ready to sell to your fans, check out Fake Science ( yes... fakescience.com )

Hi there, folks !

I am working on a plan to promote indie-artists and bands in India - through various channels like direct marketing & club representation, etc. I am mostly looking at direct sales for CDs (min. 1000 pieces) through a well-knit network of music lovers, which I am in the process of developing. Basically I am open to any genre - which sounds good but is not commercial and yes, eclectic - becoz Indian music lovers are opening to new sounds. We'll test market in Clubs & then sell to a captive database of music afficianados in major Indian metros. Anybody who has or knows someone with great music to share - and who wants to capture the big Indian market, pls reply to me with details. U can send me ur website, clips, bios etc on parvezagm23@yahoo.co.in

P.S: There are also offers for a few live gigs at select 5star hotels in the holiday (if u happen to be visiting India) season.

Looking to make a big musical bang with all u mates at Tribe !

Cheers
Parvez
